About me
I studied mechancial engineering with special emphasis on material technology. After my Ph.D. Thesis in the field of fatigue and surface treatment of gas turbine blading material I spent some time in the US as Post-Doc with a scholarship from the German Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Bonn. Later I concentrated on the reconditioning of service exposed components of steam and gas turbines, working in Switzerland and Germany. In my role as head of R&D/ QM in a German Thermal Spray job shop I worked with the full range of products: from thermal spraying of large rolls for the steel industry up to components for the automotive industry in a high-volume spray process. In the last 16 years I worked on the development of wire spray technology for the protection of cylinder bores of engine blocks against wear and friction.
During my professional career I filed more than 50 patents together with colleagues as well as project partners. Project results were presented at international conferences as well as VDI technology conferences. In more than 70 publications I outlined the topic of material and spray process optimization.
